Studio

We cut, we sew, we upholster.

UPVOTEBLUE is a small team and a big cutting table. Every job happens at the same table, by the same hands.

UPVOTERED was making the tables and shelves. At some point we noticed that people would buy the table and then go looking for a cushion for the chair, a rug to go under it, a curtain for the window — and what they found rarely spoke the same language as the table.

UPVOTEBLUE exists to close that gap: fabric drawn to the same measuring system and in the same visual language as the furniture. Our color is indigo because it’s the blue that gets along best with wood and metal; our cloth is denim because it will be sat on, pulled at and washed.

We work in small batches. We make some models by the dozen, and we make the same model as a single piece in your size. We choose accuracy over speed, and we stick to the date we put in the quote.

How we work

Drawing
Every model starts as a technical drawing: dimensions, seam allowances, grain direction.
Cutting
On stripes and checks we match the pattern at the seams.
Sewing
Covers come off, seams hold. Made to be used.
Telling
We tell you up front that indigo can rub off and will fade.

UPVOTERED + UPVOTEBLUE

The UPVOTERED family

UPVOTERED makes tables, shelves and lamps in wood and metal; UPVOTEBLUE makes the textiles that live with them. Same typefaces, same measuring system, same technical drawing language — only the color is different. To keep red’s mark, every UPVOTEBLUE piece carries a thin red line: the red thread at the edge of a roll of selvedge denim.

UPVOTEBLUE is a brand of UPVOTERED LLC, Boston, Massachusetts.
